Alcohol Education Program

Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission has responded to the need for a program designed specifically for youth under age 21 who have been arrested for minor possession of alcohol. The Alcohol Education Program accepts referrals from Judges or law enforcement officials to provide education to participants to reduce the risk of alcohol use and increase knowledge regarding addiction.

Clients are assessed and a treatment plan is developed which might include individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, and/or psycho-education. The 2-hour psycho-education course is held weekly for 4 weeks.

Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission’s Alcohol Education Program addresses the personal, family and social impact of substance use and supports young people and their families to identify and overcome situations leading to or underlying alcohol and drug use. Clients engage in exercises to develop solutions to peer pressure and to enhance personal responsibility and positive behavior changes. The goal for our clients is to develop overall healthy decisions regarding work, school and relationships.
